Client: SPEEDO
Date: 2008
On the eve of the Beijing 2008 Olympics, Speedo’s revolutionary LZR Racer no longer represented merely a new frontier in sports performance, but became a symbol capable of crossing the boundaries of swimming and engaging in a dialogue with the fashion world. From this vision, the collaboration between Speedo and Comme des Garçons was born—an unprecedented meeting between technological innovation, stylistic research, and design culture. For the first time, a world-leading swimwear brand collaborated with a fashion house to reinterpret a product designed for Olympic competition, turning it into a cult object. LDL COMeta highlighted this partnership through a communication strategy aimed at fashion and lifestyle media, telling the story of the blend of technology, performance, and creativity. The project took the LZR Racer beyond the world of sports, positioning it as a contemporary icon capable of uniting athletic achievement with aesthetic sensitivity. A collaboration that proved how innovation, when combined with design, can transform into culture and desirability.
